The LNWR and the 1850 TrainThe London & Birmingham Railway lasted for 9 years, from 1837 to 1846, when it amalgamated with the Grand Junction (GJR)and the Liverpool & Machester (L&MR) to form the London & North Western Railway (the L&NWR). Bury's quaint and very effective 4 wheeled engines soon became underpowered as traffic volumes grew and were replaced by progressively larger designs. One such is the 'Crewe Type' and these are depicted in the next series, "The 1850 Train"
